Darling Dahlias & Brushed Sentiments ┃Inspiration Cards

Happy Friday Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a quick and simple set of “Thank you” inspiration cards made with a floral touch and a little bit of hot foil stamping using the latest Darling Dahlias Layering Stencils and Darling Dahlias Cling Stamp from the November-2021 Release by Pinkfresh Studio. Along with these leafy set, I’ve also used Brushed Sentiments Hot Foil, Brushed Sentiments Dies and Solid Hot Foil Plate for the cards sentiments, and last but certainly not least, PFS- Inks to ink up the floral background panel. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it ↓

Therefore, as per usual to when comes to hot foil stamping, I started off by setting up my Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform and Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine over my Crafter's Essential Cutting and Alignment Mat. And, once I had that step completed, I went ahead to turn on the glimmer hot foil platform, and while my platform was heating up, I went ahead to line up over a large piece of white cardstock one of the Brushed Sentiments Hot Foil including in the set. Thus, as soon as I had the glimmer plate line up over the white cardstock piece, I went ahead to cut out a piece of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll: Aura larger enough to cover the plate and then, I proceeded to get the hot foil stamping done.

Next, as soon as I’ve got finished the foil stamping using one of the hot foil plates, I went ahead to repeat the same steps to get the card sentiments hot foil stamped using the second hot foil plate. Once, I’ve got finished the foil stamping, I’ve gone ahead to use their coordinating dies which are including in Brushed Sentiments Dies to die cut out the card sentiments from the cardstock pieces. If you read my previous blog post, you’ll notice that the first 2 steps were exactly the same as for the hot foil stamping for the card sentiments. However, to create this set of cards, I took a step further using the left-over pieces of foil sheets along with Solid Hot Foil Plate to double up the amount of card sentiments by reversing the hot foil stamping. If you don’t know yet how that works, you’ll see below what I mean with this.

Thus, right after that I’ve got finished die-cutting the card sentiments, I went ahead to set them off to the side to get the inking started for the floral background. So, for the floral background, I went ahead to line up an A2 size white card panel over my Stencil Mat and then, I used the stencils including in Darling Dahlias Layering Stencils set to create the floral background. Therefore, for the inking process, I used ink blending brushes along with Ballet Slipper Ink, Coral Reef Ink, Peach Fuzz Ink and Apricot Ink to ink up the dahlias. Grassy Knoll Ink, Olive Ink, Warm Buff Ink and Espresso Ink to ink up the leaves plus, Ocean Breeze Ink and Unicorn White Ink to ink up the light blue background.

Moving on, after getting the inking finished for the card background, I went ahead to trim down the edges of it using my Comfort Paper Trimmer and then, I used the smaller die including in Essentials: Pretty Frames Die Set to cut out the center of the card panel. This die also cut out a rim, so as soon as I gotten finished die-cutting the background panel, I’ve gone ahead to remove the rim out of it and then, I proceeded to get the largest piece of the die-cutting background panel adhered with double-sided adhesive over an A2 size white card base. Next, I skipped the rim as I mentioned earlier and then, I went ahead to get the backing of the center of the die-cutting background mounted over the card base with craft foam adhesive to add dimension. Once, I had the first card base completed with its floral background adhered, I went ahead to set it off to the side to continue creating the second card base.

As for the card background for the second example, I kept it quite simple by creating a subtle look skipping the layering stenciling but using Darling Dahlias Cling Stamp along with Misty Coast Ink for a cohesive look. To make it easy, I used my MISTI Stamping Tool to get the stamping step done.

Also, I used the same die to cut out the center of the stamped card panel in the same way as I did for the first example. Since, I had left the die-cutting rim from the floral, I used it in this example to add a pop of color to it (as show in the image above) Other than that, the design is the same, same dimension and same placement.

Having that being said, after getting the background panel mounted over another A2 size top folding white card base, I went ahead to get the card sentiments mounted over each card.

So, I used the primary hot foil stamped card sentiment over the inked and dimensional floral background. Then, I used the reverse hot foil stamped cards sentiment over the other card. Lastly, to raise more dimension to each card, I used small pieces of Foam Strips to mount their sentiments.

Finally, to finish the card off, I decided not to add extra embellishment to the cards to let the floral and foil stamping shine on each card.
