Sweet Leaves Frame & Brushed Sentiments ┃Inspiration Card

Happy Thursday Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a quick and simple, yet extra dimensional “Framed/Tri-fold” inspiration card with a touch of hot foil stamping, made using the latest Sweet Leaves Frame Layering Stencils and Sweet Leaves Frame Die from the November-2021 Release by Pinkfresh Studio. Along with these leafy set, I’ve also used Brushed Sentiments Hot Foil and Brushed Sentiments Dies for the card sentiment, and last but certainly not least, PFS- Inks to ink up the leafy frame. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it ↓

Therefore, as per usual to when comes to hot foil stamping, I started off by setting up my Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform and Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine over my Crafter's Essential Cutting and Alignment Mat. And, once I had that step completed, I went ahead to turn on the glimmer hot foil platform, and while my platform was heating up, I went ahead to line up over a large piece of white cardstock one of the Brushed Sentiments Hot Foil including in the set. Thus, as soon as I had the glimmer plate line up over the white cardstock piece, I went ahead to cut out a piece of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll: Aura larger enough to cover the plate and then, I proceeded to get the hot foil stamping done.

Next, as soon as I’ve got finished the foil stamping using one of the hot foil plates, I went ahead to repeat the same steps to get the card sentiments hot foil stamped using the second hot foil plate. Once, I’ve got finished the foil stamping, I’ve gone ahead to use their coordinating dies which are including in Brushed Sentiments Dies to die cut out the card sentiments from the cardstock pieces.

Then, right after that I’ve got finished die-cutting them out, I’ve gone ahead to set them off to the side to get an A2 size white card panel ink up using Sweet Leaves Frame Layering Stencils set. Thus, I went ahead to place down the card panel over my Stencil Mat and once I’ve got that done, I used and ink blending brush to get the inking up started. This set includes only 2 layering stencils, however to create dimension and depth I went ahead to used Ballet Slipper Ink and Peach Fuzz Ink to ink up the small flowers plus Grassy Knoll Ink, Olive Ink and a touch of Warm Buff Ink to ink up the leafy frame.

Moving on, after finishing the ink up for the leafy frame, I went ahead to set it off to the side to start the card assembling. Thus, I went ahead to clean and use stencil #1 from the set to get the front flap of an A2 size white card base dry emboss it. But, because this is a tri-fold card, I went ahead to place the card base facing down and then, I’ve got the stencil line up over the left side of the card, then I proceeded to get the dry embossing done using the instructions from my die cut machine and once I had that step done, I set the card base off to the side.

The layering stencils set also has Sweet Leaves Frame Die which happens to be its coordinating die, so I went ahead to line up the die over the center of the inked card panel to cut out the center of it. Then, I removed the positive piece from the cut and without removing the die from the inked card panel, I went ahead to line them up over the front flap of an A2 size white card base, to get the center of the card base cut out in the same way as I did for the card panel.

Having that being said, after getting that step completed I went ahead to remove the positive die-cutting piece from the card base, and then I’ve adhered a piece of acetate over the front flap of the card base. Next, I went ahead to get the backing of the die-cutting frame mounted over the card base using Foam Strips to raise a little bit of dimension between the card base and inked frame (as you can see in the image above.)

So, after getting the dimensional frame mounted over the card base, I went ahead to trim off 1/8” of an inch from the backing of the dry embossing card base, and then I’ve got the backing of the card base adhered inside the other card base with double-sided adhesive to achieve the tri-fold look (as shown in the image above.) By the way, there’s a smaller image in the center of the frame and there’s also a coordinating die for it, having that said you can see it in the upper right side of in the image above, as I used it to embellish the card envelope.

Lastly, to finish the card off, I went ahead to get the card sentiment adhered over the center of the card. So, to do that, I went ahead to glue down 2 of the hot foil stamped words that I had previously hot foil stamp over white cardstock to create the “Love You” card sentiment. Then, to cover up the adhesive from the back of the card sentiment, I used another 2 die-cutting words, words which I’ve had previously cut out from white cardstock using the same die.

This card design could easily be transformed into a shaker card, I’m mentioning this because that was my first thought when I started the making of it. However, I decided to go with a simpler design by skipping the shaker step but still making it dimensional by adding elevation and by adding the dry embossing step. Step that shows up once the recipient opens the card as at glance seems like it has a plain white background due that the frame and the card sentiment cover up the dry embossing step. You know, is always fun to add a surprise details to the card.

Also, I decided not add extra embellishment for a clean and simple see-through look. And, with that being said friends, I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this quick and simple, yet extra dimensional “Framed/Tri-fold” inspiration card using products by Pinkfresh Studio.
