The Stamp Market┃ Holiday Inspiration Card with Pockets

Happy Friday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you this super fun “Holiday” inspiration card with pockets, I made using some holiday stamps and dies from the latest “Merry & Magical” release by The Stamp Market. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it ↓

Therefore, I started off by creating the card base, so to do that, I went ahead to trim off in half an 8-1/2” x 11.0” inches of heavyweight white cardstock sheet using my Comfort Paper Trimmer. Next, I placed down each piece of cardstock over my Scoring Board to mark a scoring line at the 4-1/4” inches point mark. Then, after I’ve got the scoring lines marked, I’ve gone ahead to fold them over using my Teflon bone folder creating that way 2-A2 size side folding card bases.

Thus, after having completed both card bases, I went ahead to put them off to the side so I could get cut 2 smaller pieces out of white cardstock. So, I went ahead to trim off one piece to H 4.0” x W 1.0” inches and another to H 5-1/4” x W 1.0” inches. Once, that I’ve got the two white pieces cut out of the white cardstock, I went ahead place each of them over my scoring board to score three lines on every 1/4 of the inch. Lastly, I went ahead to fold over each scoring line from the larger piece creating one mountain and two valleys, and once I’ve got that step done on each cardstock piece, I went ahead to glue down the backing from each of the card bases inside the valleys (as shown in the image above)to create a space between and use it as one of the pockets for the card. Finally, I repeated the same step for the smaller piece, but this time instead of gluing down the card bases inside the valleys I did it on the outer edges. And by doing that, I went ahead to seal the pocket by getting carefully gluing down the edges of the card bases as well.

Moving on, as soon as I’ve got finished the card base, I went ahead to add the pockets on each side of the pocket that I create previously, so to do that, first I went ahead to trim down two hot foil stamping card panels on which, I’ve had gotten created previously using Confetti Dots Foil Plate along with two pieces of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Polished Brass and of course my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine and Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform for the hot foil stamping process. Thus, after the hot foil stamping process, I went ahead trim down one of the card panel a little bit smaller than the card base and then, I’ve got the backing of it adhered down with double-sided adhesive to the front side of the inner pocket which I’ve had gotten created previously.

As soon as, I’ve got the hot foil stamping card panel adhered to the front side of the inner pocket, I went ahead to create the smaller pocket so to do that, I went ahead to trim down a white cardstock piece to H 2-3/4” x W 4-1/2” inches. Next, I went ahead to mark a scoring line on three side of it at the 1/4 of an inch point mark. Then, to the side that I left without marking the scoring line, I went ahead to line up the scallop border die including in Scallop Borders Dies to add the scalloped edge to it, this set also includes a die that add a dotted detail to the scallop edge, so I went ahead to do that and once I’ve got that done, I went ahead to fold over inwards the scoring line to get them adhered to the panel creating that way the first smaller pocket.

In the same way that I created the first smaller pocket, I went ahead to create a second one for the back of the inner pocket. Therefore, after I’ve got both smaller pockets adhered, I went ahead to start the embellishment for the card base, so to do that, I went ahead to trim down two smaller panels using the green dotted patterned paper including in Merry & Bright 12x12 Paper Collection. Once, that I’ve got them trim down, I went ahead to get their backing adhered with double-sided adhesive to the left and right inner sides of the card base. Using another patterned paper from the same collection, I went ahead to trim down two smaller pieces. and then I added the scalloped edge to them using the same die I used previously to create the smaller pockets. That being said, after adding the scalloped edges to them, I went ahead to get them adhered over the smaller pockets (as shown in the image above) and as soon as I’ve got that step completed, I went ahead to start the embellishment for the front, back and pockets for the card.

To embellish the smaller pockets, I created two floral cluster which I’ve got mounted over them (as shown in the images above) using some of the stamped images that I’ve got previously stamp over white cardstock using a combination of the following stamp sets: Bell Flowers Stamp Set and Spring of Greenery Stamp Set. Along with the stamp sets, I also used; Bell Flowers Dies and Spring of Greenery Dies to die cut each layering stamped image out from the cardstock. As for the ink color combination, I used TSM Inks in the following hues: Cheeky and Bubble Gum inks for the pink flowers. Peach and Papaya inks for the peach flowers. Melon ink for the center of the flowers. Leafy, Mossy, Greenery, Forest, and Umber inks for the greenery.

After getting the smaller pockets embellished, I went ahead to start the embellishment for the front card panel, so to do that, I went ahead to add the dotted die-cutting details to two white card panels using Dotted Scallop Cover Die. Next, as soon as I’ve got added the dotted details to them, I went ahead to glue down one of them over a gold A2 size card panel to make the gold pop through the dotted die-cutting details. Then, once I’ve got adhered it to the gold panel, I went ahead to repeat the same steps for the other white die-cutting panel. Then, to finish the front and back of the card base, I went ahead to get the backing of layered die-cutting panels adhered with double-sided adhesive to the front and back of the card base.

To keep a cohesive look for the inside and outside embellishments for the card, I went ahead to create a large floral cluster, however instead of using only stamped images as I did for the smaller pockets, I decided to incorporate layering die cut flowers and leaves, so to do that I used the dies including in Bell Flowers Layering Dies which are basically the same designs from the stamp set but in layering die cut shapes. Having that being said, after die-cutting and assembling the pieces, I went ahead to get the floral cluster mounted over the front of the card. A floral cluster, which I also got it complimented using some of the stamped images as well for a fuller look.

As, for the card sentiment I went ahead to mount a die cut sentiment which I’ve had gotten previously stamp, gold heat embossing over a piece a white cardstock and die cut using its coordinating die. The stamp and dies are including in Sending Cheer Stamp Set and Sending Cheer Dies. I would like to mention that these sets have eight sentiments which are perfect to make this type of cards, as you can use more than one just like I did to embellish the pockets.

Lastly, after getting my card fully embellished, I needed to fill the pockets, so for the first pocket, I decided to create a mini gift card bag, and to do that, I used the dies and stamps including in Gift Bag & Tags Dies and Gift For You Stamp Set.

Then, to get the inner pocket fill out, I created a die-cutting tag which could also be used to write a handwritten message. So, to make the die-cutting tag I used Jumbo Tag Die along with a piece of translucent ribbon and some of the left-over stamped and die cut images.

One of the patterned paper sheets from the collection includes tag designs. So, I went ahead to trim them down using my paper trimmer and them I’ve got the second smaller pocket filled out with them. If happens that you want to re-create this handmade card with pockets, you might as well go on and on creating another two pocket to the literal sides of the card to add even more embellishment or why not adding more inner pockets by simply adding an extra 1/4 of an inch to the spine of the card, as this card can be a perfect gift to a craft friend during this holiday season.

Last but not least, as a finishing touch, I glued down here and there some crystal confetti to add an extra touch of shine to the card. And with that being said friends, I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this super fun “Holiday” inspiration card with pockets, using some holiday stamps and dies from the latest “Merry & Magical” release by The Stamp Market.
