Spellbinders MAY-2020 Card Kit of the Month┃Inspiration Cards

Happy Saturday, friends! On today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with you 4 Cards, 3 Envelope Liners and 1 Bookmark that, I’ve created with the Die Cut Shapes, Stickers, Stamp Set and Patterned Paper Pad included in the; MAY-2020 “All the Little Things” Card Kit of the Month by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step by step on how to make them ↓

To begin with, I started by selecting the die cut shapes that I was going to use for all cards along with the patterned paper sheets from the paper pad included in the kit. To keep it simple, I kept it with the same color scheme by using 2 designs from the paper pad however, you’ll see a Purple pop of color at the end.

Therefore, after the patterned papers were selected, I trimmed down the first deep floral pattern to H 5.0’’ x W 3-3/4’’ inches and I adhered it down with the double-sided tape included in the kit to one of the textured white card bases that are also included in the Card Kit.

Then, I set the card base aside while, I got the die-cutting done. So, I ran through the Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine the frame die included in the Card Kit to die-cut it out 1X of White cardstock and 1X out of Gold cardstock. Once, I was done die-cutting both frames, I offset and stacked the frames to the right and I glued them down to the center of the card. This step was only to create a Gold shadow. So therefore, to add dimension I ran through the die-cutting machine the center die of the frame to die-cut it also out of White cardstock and Gold cardstock so, after I was done die-cutting them, I stacked them in the same way as I did with the frame and I mounted it to the center of the frame with square adhesives. Finally to finish the card off, I adhered one of the 3D flower cluster stickers included in the kit, and I glue down here and there Gold Mix Jewels to compliment the Gold accents from the frames.

This month, I did something different therefore, I decided to create envelope liner to match the cards so, to do that I trimmed down the second sheet of the same patterned paper to H 6.0’’X W 5-52’’ thus, after I was done trimming the paper down, I inserted the patterned paper to one of the envelopes included in the kit, but without adhering it as I was going to trace the edge of the envelope with a pencil so, I could use a pair of scissors to fussy cut the edge following the tracing line.
NOTE: I’ll be sharing soon how to make the envelope liner so, look up for the JUNE-2020 Card Kit blog post next week.

The May Card Kit also included die-cut shapes in a form of postage stamps so, as you can see in the image above, I embellished the envelope by adhering down with liquid glue 2 postage stamps and a flag die-cut shapes in the top right corner of the envelope.

And, because… postage stamp die-cut shapes were not enough, I complemented the floral pattern from the card by adhering on the bottom right corner one of the floral clusters included in the kit. Therefore, to finish the envelope off, I traced 4 Navy color lines for a finishing designed envelope look.

As for the Bookmark, I adhered down with double-sided tape the leftover patterned paper that I had left from the previous card to a Heavy white cardstock. Therefore, after the patterned paper was adhered to the cardstock, I trimmed down a piece of white cardstock to W 2.0’’X H5-1/2’’ inches. And to add a texture, I placed the white card piece over my score tool and I marked the lines with my stylus every 1/8 of an inch.

So, after I was done marking each line, I adhered down the textured white panel with double-sided tape to the bookmark. And soon after that, I embellished the bookmark by gluing down with liquid glue 1 of die-cut floral shapes, 2 puffy stickers which are also included in the kit, and the Lovely die-cutting word which by the way I had created by die-cutting the word 3X out of white cardstock and 1X out of gold cardstock. By the way, the Lovely word die is included in the kit as well.

Finally, to finish the bookmark off, I glued down with liquid glue here and there Gold Jewels and a tired bow which I’ve had previously gold heat embossed on a piece of translucent vellum.

Moving on, after I’ve had done the first 2 colorful projects and the bookmark, I created a quick and simple card by creating a white on white card…No Surprise, am right?

Therefore, to create this example I ran through the die-cutting machine the frame dies to die-cut it 1X out of white cardstock. Once, I’ve got it done, I set it aside and I ran through the die-cutting machine 12X the solid die from the frame, to die-cut it out of white cardstock.

So, after I’ve got the 12X white die-cutting pieces done I glued them down with liquid glue to an A2 size white card panel to create my own textured background panel. Thus, right after that I trimmed the card panel a bit smaller than the card base and lastly, I adhered it down with double-sided tape to a one of the white card bases.

Finally, to finish the card off, I mounted with craft foam and double-sided tape the white frame along with the arrangement that I created with some of the die-cut shapes. Then as finishing touches, I glued down puffy hearts, sentiment and butterflies along with crystal sequins and a tied bow which I created with a small piece of metallic gold thread.
NOTE: You can see in the image above the second envelope liner that I created with another pattern paper from the paper pad included in the Card Kit.

To me the purpose of a Card Kit is that nothing is going to the trash bin LOL! So therefore, for the third example, I adhered down with double-sided tape the four corner pieces that I had left over from the patterned papers on which I created the envelope liners.

Yasmin-Diaz-Spellbinders-MAY-2020-KOM-15.jpeg

The corners worked perfectly to create a background panel however, they were not larger enough to create a standard A2 card so instead I made a square card with that said, the card panel measures 4.0’’ X 4.0’’ and the card base measures 4-1/4’’ X 4-1/4’’ inches.

Yasmin-Diaz-Spellbinders-MAY-2020-KOM-16.jpeg

So, after the background panel was completely adhere to the card panel, I adhered the card panel to the card base and I adhered a 3D butterfly sticker right in the center of it. Lastly, I glue down with liquid glue gold jewels, white flowers and sprigs on both sided of the butterflies and to finish the card off, I mounted a sentiment which I had previously stamp, gold heated emboss and fussy cut out of a piece of white cardstock.
NOTE: The flower and sprig dies are included in the Cardkit along with the sentiment which is part of the stamp set included in the kit.

For the last example, I added a pop of color to the whole card set so, I created a Happy Monochromatic Purple Rainbow card with the die-cut shapes.

Therefore, for this card and envelope I trimmed down one of the patterned papers a bit smaller than the card base and I adhered it down with double-sided tape to one of the card bases. Then, I created the envelope liner in the same way as I did in the previous examples.

Yasmin-Diaz-Spellbinders-MAY-2020-KOM-19.jpeg

As for the focal point, I adhered the rainbow die-cut shape to a white card panel, then I glued down with liquid glue 5 cloud die-cut shapes and one on top with square adhesives to add dimension. Lastly, I glued down with liquid glue 2 butterfly die-cut shapes and crystal sequins here and there to add shine. To finish the card off, I gold heated emboss a sentiment over the card panel and I trimmed down the card panel smaller than the previous panel, and last but not least I adhered the white card panel to the card base.
