Spellbinders KOM APR-2022┃Inspiration Cards

Happy Tuesday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a set of “Spring Floral” inspiration cards made with a clean and simple look and a pop-up effect using: “Picket Fences” Card Kit of the Month Club by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step by step on how I made them ↓

Therefore, for the first example, I used the included in this month’s Card Kit of the Month Club to create the picket fence effect not only for the focal point card closure but to create the inside pop-up effect as well. So, to do that first, I went ahead to line up the picket fence die included in the die set over a large piece of the Ivory colored cardstock also included in the kit. Then, I went ahead to run them through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to cut it out from the cardstock a few times to create dimension once, I got them layered together. Next, I used the other dies also included in the die set to cut out the flowers and greenery from the colored cardstock sheets included in the kit.

Once, I had the die-cutting process done, I went ahead to get the flowers assembling and then, I created the focal point (as shown in the image above) over the lower side of a small white card front panel. Then, to create the card sentiment, I went ahead to use one of the sentiments included in the stamp set included in the kit, to get it stamped over a small piece of white cardstock using: MISTI Mini Stamp Tool, VersaMark Ink Pad, Metallic Embossing Powder- Gilded and Wow Embossing Powder Dual Speed Heat Tool for the stamping and heat embossing process. Lastly, as soon as, I’ve had finished the heat embossing process, I’ve got the card sentiment mounted with craft foam adhesive over the upper side of the card panel where I had created the picket fence effect.

Moving on, right after that, I’ve had finished the card front focal point, I went ahead to put it off to the side so, I could go ahead to create the inner pop-up effect for the card. Thus, to do that, I went ahead to use a small piece of white cardstock to create a cloudy sky using the back of the dies included in Color Block Cloudscape Etched Dies (coming soon) along with an ink blending brush and Sea Glass ink. Next, once I had finished getting it inked up, I’ve gone ahead to trimming it down to W 7.0 x H 5-1/4 inches using my Paper Trimmer. Then, I’ve gone ahead to create a scoring line right in the center of it and then, I had gotten the backing of it adhered inside with the double-sided adhesive to one of textured white card bases included in the kit. Lastly, to create the pop-up effect first of all, I went ahead to trim down a piece from one of the card bases to W 7-1/2 x H 2.0 inches. Second of all, I placed it over my Scoring Board to trace over it 3 scoring lines at 1/4, 3-3/4 and 7-1/4 inches. Third of all, I went ahead to finish the pop-up effect by getting the edges of the scored panel adhered to the cloudy inked panel. Last but not least, as soon as, I’ve had added the pop-up effect to the inside of the card, I went ahead to create two picket fences in the same way as I did for the front card panel along with die-cutting flowers and greenery. Picket fences which, I’ve got glued down to each side of the pop-up effect (as shown in the image above.) Also, I’d like to mention that I added only one pop-up element but if you ever decide to replicate this example, you can add a second pop-up element behind of it by adjusting the measurements as there’s enough space to add another one or more. Besides, you can add die-cutting clouds to add dimension or even additional sentiments if you will.

To finish the card off, I went ahead to get the card closed and then I trimmed down a small strip of white cardstock to create a belly band closure along with the smaller card panel which, I had gotten created earlier, just as shown in the image above.

For the second example, I created a quick and simple card using one of the patterned paper sheets included in the paper pad from the kit along with some of the floral die cut shapes included in the ephemera pack, also included in the kit.

Thus, to do this example, I went ahead to trim down the patterned paper 1/4 of an inch smaller than the card base. Next, I went ahead to get the backing of it adhered to the card base and then, I also got a smaller white card panel layered over it. A white card panel on which, I had gotten previously stamp and gold heat emboss a sentiment using one of the sentiments included in the stamp set. Lastly, I created a floral cluster with the die cut shapes and then, I’ve got it mounted over the lower side of the card. Then, To finish the card off, I went ahead to use my Jewels Picker along with Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue to glue down here and there some of the clear sequins included in the kit a well.

For the last example, I went ahead to create a landscaping design using one of the patterned paper sheets along with more floral die cut shapes.

So, to do that, I went ahead to trim down one of the patterned paper sheets included in the paper pad and then, I’ve got adhered the backing of it to one of the textured white card bases.

Next, went ahead to create two floral clusters with the die cut shapes and then, I’ve got them mounted over the front card panel (as shown in the image above.) And then, to finish the card off, I went ahead to add the card sentiment. A card sentiment created using a chipboard sticker and a puffy stickers and which, I got it mounted over the lower left side of the card design.

And, with that being said friends, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this set of “Spring Floral” inspiration cards with a clean and simple look and a pop-up effect using: “Picket Fences” Card Kit of the Month Club by Spellbinders.
