Spellbinders DOML-NOV2020┃Merry Stitching Inspiration Cards

Happy Thursday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you my first ever “Elegant & Hand-Stitching” Christmas card set made using NOV-2020 “Merry Stitching” Large Die of the Month by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the fun step-by-step for how I made them ↓

To begin with, I started lining up over a large piece of Neenah Desert Storm 80lb Cardstock the Christmas Tree die included in the set. Next, right after that I had them line up, I went ahead to run them through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. Once, I had the die-cutting Christmas Tree done, I went ahead to use the brush head from my Tool ‘n One to remove every single tiny negative die-cut piece out of it.

Therefore, after I’ve finished removing the tiny pieces, I went ahead to get the stitching started. Thus, for the stitching, I used a hand needle along with DMC Metallic in Crystal and DMC Metallic in Gold. The Stitching is pretty simple once you get the hang of it, as the dies create de-boss lines that makes it easy to follow where you next stitch goes next. You can see that my first try was perfectly-imperfect when you look closely in the image above as, I missed some stitching and, in some cases I pressed some too tight however, I still had so much fun hand stitching it.

That said, after I’ve had finished hand stitching the Christmas tree, I went ahead to start the assembling for the card. Therefore, I went ahead to get a square dotted white card panel adhered with double-sided tape to a 4-1/4’’ x 4-1/4’’ inches a square Kraft card base. Then, to add dimension I went ahead to mount with craft foam tape a white die-cutting dotted circle over the card base. Lastly, I went ahead to line up the die which die-cut the solid base for Christmas tree so, once I had it die-cut it out of the Kraft cardstock, I went ahead to get to glue down with liquid glue the hand-stitching Christmas tree to its base. Finally, to finish the card off, I went ahead to embellish the card off by gluing down with liquid glue some gold jewels as well as the foiled sentiment which I mounted with craft foam tape to add a bit of dimension.
NOTE: For the dotted white card panels I used Nestabilities Essential Squares Etched Dies and Nestabilities Essential Circles Etched Dies. And, as for the sentiment I used Elegant Holiday Glimmer Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate Set and Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Polished Brass.

For the next example, I made a standard A2 landscaping design using the die with a half fans and diamonds so therefore, I went ahead to line up the die right on the edge of an A2 Kraft card panel and I’ve gotten it die-cut out of the card panel. Next, I went ahead to use once again the brush head from my from my Tool ‘n One to remove every single tiny negative die-cut piece out of it. And, then I went ahead to get the hand stitching going using the same DMC Metallic Embroidery Floss that I used on the previous example.

At this point, I was feeling a bit more confident with my hand stitching so that said, I decided to add a second round of stitches using the DMC in Metallic Gold. And, once I had that step done, I’ve gone ahead to mount the Kraft hand stitching card panel (as shown in the image above) with craft foam tape to an A2 side folding white card base.

To embellish the card up, I went ahead to get adhered over the Kraft card panel a smaller white card panel on which I’ve had gotten previously a sentiment foiled (as shown in the image above) using one of the sentiments from Elegant Holiday Glimmer Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate Set and Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Polished Brass. Last but not least to brake the joint between both card panel, I went ahead to adhered down a strip of gold cardstock as well as a little bow which I’ve had previously created using the medium bow die from Put a Bow on It Die Set and Gold cardstock. Then, to finish the card off, I went ahead to glue down with liquid glue some of the gold jewels that I used on the previous example adding that way an extra touch of shine.

For the last example, I was feeling like a PRO with my hand stitching so, I went bold by making a slimline card so therefore, I’ve gotten die-cut 3 snowflakes and I’ve gotten them hand stitching using once again the same DMC Metallic Embroidery Floss combination that I used on the previous examples.

Moving on, after I’ve had finished the hand stitching, I went ahead to get glue down with liquid glue the snowflakes to their bases and then, I went ahead to set them off to the side while I continued to fussy cut the foiled sentiment out of the white cardstock using a small pair of scissors.

That said, after I had the fussy cutting done, I went ahead to adhered with double-sided tape a strip of gold cardstock on the left side of my slimline white card base. Next, I went ahead to gotten adhere the snowflakes (as shown in the image above) and last but not least, I’ve gone ahead to mount the sentiments using craft foam tape to level the dimension up. Then, as a finishing touch, I’ve gotten some of the gold jewels adhered here and there adding that way a whole lot of shine to the card.

Unfortunately, I’d like to mention that this die set is not available to purchase anymore as it was part of the NOV-2020 Club Kits on the Month. But I wanted to share my first try experiencing with hand stitching for card making hoping the Spellbinders brings more die set like this one in future releases.
