Spellbinders DOM-DEC2020┃Daydreaming Inspiration Cards

Happy Tuesday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a set of ink blended cards with a “Sunset and Starry Night” sky theme made using DEC-2020 “Day Dreaming” Small Die of the Month by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step by step on how I made them ↓

To begin with, I started by selecting one of the patterned papers from the paper pad included in DEC-2020 Card Kit of the Month which I was going to use for the plant vasels. Next, I went ahead to line up the vasel dies included in the set and I run them through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to die-cut a few of them. Once, I had that done, I went ahead to continue with the die-cutting for the little plants which, I’ve die-cut them out of Green cardstock and the kitties which, I’ve die-cut them out of Black cardstock.

Therefore, after I’ve finished die-cutting the small pieces, I went ahead to start the die-cutting for the window frames which, I’ve gotten die-cut out of White cardstock as well as the ink blending for the sky. Thus, for the first example I created a Sunset sky so to do that, I’ve inked blend a card panel using the following distress inks; Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves and Faded Jeans. That said, after I’ve gotten finished the ink blending, I went ahead to start the assembling for the card.

Moving on, to assemble the card, I went ahead to get glue down with liquid glue over a small white card panel the dimensional white window frame which I’ve had previously die-cut out of white cardstock. Next, I went ahead to inlay the die-cutting pieces for the sky and the clouds as well as the tree which I’ve gotten die-cut out of Black cardstock. Then, I went ahead to assemble the little plants using the die-cutting pieces as well as the kittens. Lastly, I went ahead to use one of the dies included in the club kit to die-cut a sentiment out of White cardstock as well as a strip of Gold cardstock which I’ve die-cut using the label die included in the kit. Last but not least, I went ahead to stack the sentiment along with the Gold strip of cardstock and I’ve gotten it foam mounted as shown in the image above creating a mantle or base to mount the kittens and plants. Thus, to finish the card off, I mounted the small card panel to an A2 textured white card bases and then, I went ahead to glue down here and there some crystal sequins to add a touch of shine as well as white highlights to the kitten bodies.

The second example is basically assembled in the same way as the previous example however, for this example, I decided to go for a starry night sky. Therefore, for the sky I’ve used the following distress oxide inks; Wild Honey, Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, Faded Jeans and Black Soot.

Other than that, I’ve used the dies which die-cut the stars and the moon and more clouds than the previous example. Also, I’ve used a second die to get the sentiment die-cut out of White cardstock.

That said, the assembling was in the same order with the difference of the inlay pieces. Then, as you can see instead of having 2 kittens, I’ve only mounted one and one set of small plants. But I’ve embellished the card with the same crystal sequins and white highlights.
