Spellbinders/Stampendous Pop-Up┃Inspiration Cards

Happy Tuesday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share a set of delicate and dimensional inspiration cards with a “Floral & Pop-Up” effect showcasing the Mini Slim Die Set, Pop Shapes Die Set, Deckle Die Set, Brushed Messages Perfectly Clear Stamp Set, and True Friends Perfectly Clear Stamp Set by Stampendous which you can find over on Spellbinders website now. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made them. ↓

Therefore for the first example, I used the Stampendous Mini Slim Die Set dies and the Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to die-cut first the inside pop-up piece that holds the gift card out of white cardstock.

Thus, after getting that step done, I trimmed down a piece of white cardstock using the Paper Trimmer to 6x6 inches. Next, I placed that piece of white cardstock over the Scor-Pal Eighths tool, and then I used the Teflon Bone Folder to trace a scoring line at 3.0 inches point mark. Once, I had the scoring line traced over the cardstock piece, I folded it over, and then I got the insert die-cutting part of the pop-up gift card glued in the center part of the card base while I had it fully open. This step was quite simple since the dies add up the stitching detail edges and indicates where to get them folded. Then, to get them glued down to the card base, I got them folded outwards and get the outer parts of the folds glued to the inner card flaps.

Then to add dimension and an extra detailed touch to the inside of the card, I used one of the dies from the set to cut out to layering pieces from white cardstock, and then I added texture to them using this month’s 3D Embossing Folder of the Month Club. So, after adding texture to the layering pieces, I got the backing of each of them glued to the inner card flaps (as shown in the image above.)

Lastly, to get the inner part of the pop-up gift card embellished, I used the dies included in Stampendous Pop Shapes Die Set to die-cut some flowers and leaves, and then I created two small floral clusters with the die-cutting pieces and got them adhered to each side of the pop-up mechanism.

So, after embellishing the inside part of the card, I placed the gift card inside the pop-up mechanics, and then I continued to get the outer part of the card embellished.

As for the outer part of the card, I used the dies that I used previously to create another floral element. Next, I used the layering die to die-cut a layering white card panel. Also, I used one of the sentiments from Stampendous Brushed Messages Perfectly Clear Stamp Set to stamp the sentiment over the right side of the layering card panel. Last but not least, for the stamping, I used MISTI Stamp Tool and Detail Black Ink. Thus, to finish the card, I used the dies included in the set to create the card’s envelope, then I got the floral element glued to the left side of the card panel, and following, I got the backing of the layering card panel adhered to the card.

For the second example, I used again the floral dies to die-cut some flowers and leaves from patterned paper and solid Dark Yellow cardstock. By the way, I used some of the patterned paper sheets included in this month’s Quick & Easy Card Kit of the Month Club

For this card, I did not add any pop effect. However, I created a flower vase using one of the dies from the set. Then, to add a metallic accent, I wrapped around some DMC Diamant Metallic Gold Thread to the upper part of the flower’s vase, and then I created a floral bouquet over the vase.

Then, I added more metallic gold accents to the flowers, and I added dimension by using pieces of craft foam adhesive.

Last but not least, I used the dies included in the Stampendous Deckle Die Set to die-cut the layering white-on-white card background, and then I got the backing of the deckle and layered card background adhered to an A2-size top folding white card base. Finally, to finish the card, I got one of the sentiments from the Stampendous True Friends Perfectly Clear Stamp Set stamped in the lower part of the front card panel with detailed black ink, and then I got the floral bouquet and its base adhered over the sentiment. Then, as finishing touches, I used Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems to add the card a little extra touch of sparkle.

For the last example, I created another pop-up card with the same floral concept for a cohesive look using a combination of the die sets that I previously used to create the two previous examples.

Therefore, I trimmed off a piece of white cardstock to W 8.0 x 5.0 inches, and then I got it scored right in the middle at 4.0 inches. Next, I used the die included in the Stampendous Pop Shapes Die Set to get it to line up in three different parts of the card panels to die-cut the pop-up pieces with it; the pop-up die cuts and adding a scoring line making easier to understand how the pop-up mechanism works.

Thus, after figuring out where to die-cut the pop-up pieces, I pushed them toward the inside part of the card, and then I used the bone folder to burnish the folds with it. Next, I added liquid glue to the backside of the cardstock piece with the pop-up mechanism and then got the backing of it adhered to the inside part of an A2-size side folding white card base.

Thus, as I mentioned early, I used the same dies to create another floral bouquet and its vase for the pop-up elements. And because I wanted to add contrast between one patterned paper to another, I used a different paper pattern for the flowers to keep the same cohesive hues.

So, after I had completed the die-cutting steps for the flowers and leaves, I continued to get them glued down to the pop-up mechanism. And as for their placement, I got them placed over their place, but before calling it completed, I double-checked that nothing stuck out from the sides nor the center of the card after closing the card. And, since this was a birthday card, I went ahead to get one of the smaller sentiments stamped over a strip of white cardstock, and then I got it glued down to the center of the flower’s vase.

To continue due to the dimensional pop-up mechanism and extra elements added to the inside part of the card, I decided to create a belly band closure for the card.

Therefore, I used the dies included in Stampendous Deckle Die Set to create the layering white-on-white panel, and I used one of the sentiments from the Stampendous Brushed Messages Perfectly Clear Stamp Set to get the sentiment stamped with detailed black ink over the top layer.

Next, I used a large piece of colored cardstock that combined perfectly with the hue from the patterned paper used for the leaves to create the bally band. This piece measures 11.0 x 1-1/4 inches.

Thus, after creating the white-on-white layering effect for the belly band closure, I decided to add more layers to the front flap of the card using the large dies from the same set.

Also, I added some butterflies to the inner pop-up mechanism and the outer belly band closure. Then to finish the card, I got the card completely close and placed the belly band closure, and last but not least, to add a touch of shine, I got glued down some of the Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems to the butterfly’s bodies.

And with that said, friends, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this set of delicate and dimensional inspiration cards with a “Floral & Pop-Up” effect showcasing some of the stamps and dies by Stampendous; which you can find over on Spellbinders website.
