Happy Saturday crafty friends! It’s been a while since the last time a blogged a step-by-step handmade card. Anyway, here I am extra excited to share with you how I made this fun Center Step Pop-Up Thank You Card! That being said, let’s jump right into the step-by-step.
To create the side folds, I went ahead and trimmed down 2 pieces of green cardstock to H 5-1/2 X W 3-1/2. Then the center fold piece, also from the same green cardstock to H 5-1/2 X W 8-1/2.
Next, I placed the side pieces over the scoreboard, and I’ve got traced the scoring lines over at the following marks in the photograph above at 1.0, 1-1/2, 2.0, and 3.0
Right after, I placed the large piece of cardstock over the scoreboard and I’ve got traced over the scoring lines at 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 6.0, 7.0, and 8.0.
Once, I’ve got the scoring lines scored over the 2 pieces of cardstock, I went ahead to get them folded in accordion or mountain-valley-mountain ways (folds names are depending on how you are familiar with.) And then, I’ve got them glued together in the way photographed above.
Therefore, after I’ve got the pop-up pieces glued together, I went ahead and placed them aside to trim down the decorative pieces that I wanted to use over the side folds and front pieces. For the sides, I trimmed down 4 strips of gold cardstock to H 5-1/4 X W 1/4. Then for front and sides white decorative pieces, I trimmed down 6 pieces to H 5-1/4 X W 3/4 and 1 piece to H 5 1/4 X W 1-3/4. By the way I used Oval Rhythm Cover Plate Die by Pinkfresh Studio to add the decorative texture.
And once again after finished getting the decorative pieces, I went ahead and got them glued together to the corresponding side as you can see in the photograph above.
As for the white pieces, I would like to mention that I used 2-A2 size panels, and I’ve gotten trimmed down in a continue way to keep a cohesive design following its pattern. Which honestly, it doesn’t seem much important if you see at glance due the folds, but it does whenever you look the folds from the side view.
Moving on, once the decorative pieces and gold pieces were glued together to the folds and the front of the pop-up pieces, I went ahead and got the sides and center piece glued together directly on top on an A2 size top-folding white card base. There is a slightly gap between each pop-up piece as photographed in the picture above.
Nevertheless, as the card focal point after the pop-up effect, I used: Lemon Blossom Crest Press Plate, Lemon Blossom Crest Stencil Set, and Lemon Blossom Crest Craft Die. Also, I used the following ink pads: Lemon Whip, Cherry Blossom, Begonia, Mulberry Blush, Apricot, Peach Fuzz, Sunkissed, Sage, Eucalyptus, and Spruce Tips. As for the sentiment, I used a simple hot foiled “Thank you” sentiment which I had on hand already, and which I hot foiled using Petite Florals Press Plate and its coordinating Petite Florals Craft Die.
To finish off the card, I glued the whole decorative piece over the center pop-up piece, and to add a little extra dimension, I added a few blank layers to the “Thank you” and then I’ve got it glued it over the center pop-up piece.
And, with that said, thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed reading the step-by-step how I’ve made this fun Center Step Pop-Up Thank You Card.
